Amish Sweethearts by Leslie Gould : Book Review

Amish Sweethearts by Leslie Gould is the second book in the series Neighbors of Lancaster County. For years Lila Lehman and Zane Beck have been friends. Zane though has always seen Lila as more than a friend, and Lila’s father see’s this and arranges Lila to be courted by an Amish man. Through the years the friendship between Zane and Lila is strained because they both want more than just friendship. Zanes service in the military makes it even more difficult because of the Amish and their stance on war. Zane and Lila both struggle with what is the right thing to do. Will they find a way to be together? Or will Lila marry another?

This book is charming, but was a little slow for me. I haven’t read the first one though, so that could be it. The characters are well developed, even some of the secondary characters are developed well. I love some of the plot twists. This book also gives you a look into Amish life and their struggles with the outside world. So even though it was slow, I still enjoyed the book. It is well written, developed, and thought out by the author. I can imagine the research that went into this novel. I loved the details to the story and even the seemingly small details. Small things like a gate, a quilt, or a stump. They all played a part in the story.
